City loss spurs United on, says Park

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung says his side is out to make amends for their 6-1 drubbing by Manchester City.

Sir Alex Ferguson called Sunday’s English Premier League defeat his worst ever as a manager, as United capitulated in the second half and conceded five goals after Jonny Evans was sent off.

Ahead United s league trip to Everton on Saturday, Park told the club’s official website: We have to concentrate and everyone has to turn up to show the City game has not affected us. We have to get over that.

We have to put it right on the pitch and we have to prove it. It s a very important game to us and we have to go there and fight to get the points.

It s not an easy game at Goodison Park it s always difficult there. Just look at last season, when we were winning 3-1 and in injury-time they scored two goals.

The former South Korea international said he and his team-mates were aware of the threat former United striker Louis Saha could pose.

Saha spent four years at Old Trafford before joining Everton in 2008, and Park believes it is vital that he is stopped if United are to get back on track.

We know his abilities are good when he s fit. Now he s on form and he s on fire, so we have to be aware of that. But we can deal with it because we know him, he said.

As a team we have to fight, not just individually, so we can stop them as a team. Then we have to think about our attacking side as well as our defence.
