De Telegraaf claims Donny van de Beek set to join Real Madrid in 2020

The Dutch De Telegraaf says the Ajax midfielder s move to Real Madrid is a done deal as he is set to join Los Blancos on July 1, 2020. The publication claims that neither of the three parties involved Madrid, Ajax and Van de Beek himself are currently willing to share any further information, but will make an official statement at some point in the future.

News of Van de Beek s move to Spain is not a complete novelty, as it was widely speculated last summer that the Dutchman would be leaving. However, at the time it was reported that Van de Beek wanted to stay one more season at Ajax, the club he joined at the age of nine.

De Telegraaf claims that Madrid are seriously interested in signing the 22-year-old and will pay the €55 million asking price. Tottenham Hotpur wer…

Cristiano Ronaldo: Can the fire awake again?

The dream of winning the World Cup is over for Cristiano Ronaldo. There be no reasonable argument about that. He ll be 41 by the time the next one is played, and his boots will very likely be hanging on the wall.

The disappointment, probably the greatest of them all throughout what has been an incredible career, comes in the light of a notable problem at club level as well, and at the moment, some are wondering if his vast quality proven many times over, can return out of the past to take the stage again. Others aren t wondering; they ve written him off completely.

Having begun his career as a senior professional football player in the summer of 2002, more than 20 years ago now, Ronaldo has racked up 19, yes 19, top goalscorer awards across all competitions, in…

Man City v Liverpool: Preview and prediction

Liverpool may be no threat to Manchester City in the title race this season, but they could derail the champions hopes of a treble in Saturday s match at the Etihad Stadium.

That is the fear of Pep Guardiola, who still thinks highly of a Reds side struggling for consistency this season.

City need to win to at least temporarily close the gap to leaders Arsenal, while Liverpool are on the outside of the Champions League chase looking in.

That idea would have been alien to these two teams last year as they went toe-to-toe for the title, and memories of previous mammoth clashes are fresh in Guardiola s mind.

The City boss, who said his opinion doesn t change for one season of ups and downs , explained: For one game, absolutely, they can beat everyone, like we…

How can Wales beat Belgium in Friday’s Euro 2016 clash?

Wales lock horns with Belgium at the Grand Stade Lille Métropole in the quarter-finals of Euro2016 on Friday evening, in a game many feel could be closer than anticipated.

Wales undoubtedly have a weaker collective squad than the Rode Duivels, but they have a manager who has real tactical nous to try and target the weakness of Belgium to try and come out on top.

Width could be key for Wales

One area Belgium are notoriously uncomfortable in is the fullback area. Jan Vertonghen is injured so Marc Wilmots’ men will have a new face in the backline on the left-hand side. Eden Hazard offers little in the way of protection as the left-winger, and will leave a gaping hole for sides to exploit on the counter due to his penchant to cut inside.

On the right fla…

Scotland 0-1 Hungary: Csoboth sends Clarke´s side out of Euro 2024 after Vargas concern

Scotland were sent crashing out at Euro 2024 after Kevin Csoboth scored a stoppage-time winner to snatch a 1-0 win for Hungary on Sunday.

Csoboth was denied late on by the woodwork but then delivered the decisive strike with the latest goal ever scored in a European Championship match (excluding extra time), timed at 99 minutes and 32 seconds.

Victory moved Hungary up to three points in Group A and with a chance of knockout-stage progression, though there was cause for concern as Barnabas Vargas left the pitch on a stretcher in the second half.

Vargas collided with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn in an aerial duel, with a lengthy stoppage following for a head injury as Hungary s players and staff formed a wall to protect their striker inside the six-yard box.

Man City´s Masterplan: Citizens domination since Oasis´ last performance

Liam and Noel Gallagher have finally settled their differences to reunite Oasis next year, though their allegiances towards Manchester City have never altered.

Manchester s great duo are, after years of wait, heading back to England s biggest stages, with the news announced on Tuesday to confirm their comeback as definitely, not maybe.

Having last played at V Festival in late August 2009, the pair split just before their beloved City fired to centre stage, rising from the third tier to dominate the Premier League since the brothers ill-tempered farewell.

With eight Premier League titles, one Champions League crown, three FA Cup wins and six EFL Cup successes, City have transformed their fortunes since Oasis split.

Here, we unpick the data behind…

BREAKING NEWS: Toni Kroos quits international football after Germany´s Euro 2020 exit

Toni Kroos has retired from international football after Germany s defeat to England at Euro 2020, declaring: I want to concentrate fully on my goals with Real Madrid.

Midfielder Kroos announced his decision in a post on Instagram, expressing disappointment he had not been able to bow out on a high.

Kroos wrote: I ve played for Germany 106 times. There won t be another time.

I would have dearly wished, and I gave everything again, that there would have been 109 internationals in the end and that this one big title, the European Championship, would have been added at the end.

I had made the decision to quit after this tournament a long time ago. It had been clear to me for a long time that I would not be available for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. More t…

LA Galaxy v Vancouver Whitecaps: Vanney dismisses ´reality check´ claims

LA Galaxy’s defeat to Portland Timbers was not a reality check said head coach Greg Vanney, but he lamented his side being their own worst enemy in their seventh loss of the season.

The Galaxy were beaten 4-2 at Providence Park last time out, seeing their lead at the summit of the Western Conference table cut to five points by Real Salt Lake following their victory.

While Vanney’s side have already secured their place in the playoffs, the Galaxy head coach was keen to eradicate those recent mistakes during the final five games of the campaign.

I don t know if it s a reality check. I think everybody understands the challenges of this league and competing on the road, and they re a good team,” Vanney said.

“We create our problems with how we lose t…
